With the current global crisis, it is difficult for anyone to stay mentally and physically fit while practising self-isolation at home. While we take all the precautions to stay safe indoors, are we doing much about keeping our immunity levels high? Although there is no confirmed way of dodging the virus, a strong immune system is perhaps the only way to fight Corona Virus. While we are all together in this, the one question that rings in all our heads is, how do you improve sleep quality and reduce stress during a time of global panic?

  • You are what you eat ??Maintain a healthy diet

Superfoods like berries, onions, garlic, ginger, carrots are high in anti-oxidants. These are extremely essential for building a healthy immune system. A balanced diet which consists of fresh veggies and fruits, is what will help you fight off the virus. The good old turmeric won?? ever go out of fashion when it comes to a strong immune system.

  • Myth or Fact: Vitamin C is extremely important to boost immunity

Our body relies on these vitamins to launch an effective immune response. Vitamin C affects your immune health in several ways. It?? anti-oxidant activity can decrease inflammation which helps improve your immune function. Orange, Kiwi, Lemon, Broccoli, Capsicums are rich and natural sources of Vitamin C that can help fight various infections.

  • Sweat It Out ??Exercise Regularly

Pull out that yoga mat and get going. Exercise is uniquely powerful at calming an overactive mind. While we all miss those hard-core gym workouts, it is always better to do something rather than nothing at all. Practice deep breathing exercises, which help in circulation of blood and oxygen. Regular exercise and healthy food, increase the production of cells that attack viruses and harmful bacteria.

  • Beauty Sleep is Vital

There are many who are struggling to sleep well with the ongoing crisis. But it is important to have a good sleep for a stronger immunity. There?? plenty of evidence that supports why putting every effort toward improving the quality and amount of sleep you get is worthwhile. It helps reduce stress and inflammation, putting you at a lower risk of chronic disease. Address your anxieties through meditation and breathing exercises. Most importantly, try to refrain using electronic devices at least an hour before you head to bed.

  • Stay Hydrated At All Times

Water is the elixir to keep you strong and fit. Water helps carry oxygen to your body cells, which results in properly functioning systems. It also works in removing toxins from the body, thus, building a stronger immune system. It is necessary to drink a minimum of 3-4 litres of water every day.

  • Routines Are Boring But Equally Important

Not complaining but routines are extremely boring and well, monotonous. Specially, when you have nowhere to go and are just sitting at home, you feel even more lethargic. You may feel you are doing the same thing every day and life is just moving on. Make it exciting by picking up a hobby you always wanted to work on or learn a new skill. This is easier said than done, but remember to stick by a daily routine, only then will your body and mind stay in tandem. Routines help in maintaining your body clock, which is great for your immunity.

These are just some of the many ways to keep your immunity strong. However, the most important point, is to stay positive. Half of the battle is won if you don?? let negative thoughts hamper you. Just hold on to the positivity and we will all sail through this together.
